2008 Awards

The 2008 Awards were launched on 12 May 2008 by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence on behalf of the then Secretary of State for Defence, Des Browne MP and the Chief Medical Officer of England for the Secretary of State for Health, Alan Johnson MP at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea. Parallel launches were also held in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Over 90 nominations were received across the eight categories, a fantastic response in this inaugural year of the Awards.

The Awards ceremony was held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea on 23 October 2008 where Ministers and HRH Duchess of Cornwall as Commodore in Chief of the Royal Navy Medical Services were in attendance and the winners in each of the categories was announced.
